THE CASE FOR AI COACHING

Human coaching was never built to reach everyone who needs it.
We think that’s changing.

Most arguments for AI coaching are opinions. This page isn’t. It’s the cost data, the published research, and the specific architecture we’ve built to close the gap that’s left.

THE PROBLEM ISN’T QUALITY. IT’S REACH.

Human coaching was rationed by price long before anyone asked whether AI was “good enough.”

The debate about whether AI coaching matches human coaching usually skips a more basic fact: most employees were never in line for human coaching to begin with.

THE REAL NUMBERS

What would it actually cost to give every employee real coaching?

Drag the slider. The traditional estimate is built from a realistic seniority mix and published market coaching rates, not a hand-picked number. Full methodology below.

How this is modeled

This is our own illustrative model, not a single cited study — built by blending published market coaching rates across a typical enterprise seniority mix. We're showing it so you can check our assumptions, not to ask you to take a number on faith.

IS IT ACTUALLY GOOD ENOUGH?

The honest answer, from the published research — including where it’s still mixed.

We’re not going to tell you the research is unanimous. It isn’t. Here’s what it actually says:

Function

The Conference Board found AI can already perform up to 90% of day-to-day coaching functions — summarizing, paraphrasing, active listening, structured goal work.

The Conference Board, 2025
Competency

When assessed against the International Coaching Federation's own competency framework, an AI coaching tool met the standard for Associate Certified Coach (ACC).

Passmore et al., 2025, evaluated using ICF assessors
Outcomes

In a longitudinal randomized controlled trial run over 10 months, an AI chatbot coach was as effective as human coaches at helping clients reach their goals.

Terblanche et al., published in PLOS ONE
Relationship

A 2025 study found no significant difference in the working alliance — the trust and rapport between coach and client — built with an AI coach versus a human coach in a single session.

Barger, Frontiers in Psychology, 2025
Honest caveat

A separate small-scale study found clients rated human coaches somewhat higher than an AI coaching agent on working alliance and goal commitment after one session. The authors flagged limited sample size as a real constraint on the finding.

Journal of Work-Applied Management, 2025
THE MIDDLE GROUND DOESN’T WORK

“AI-assisted human coaching” keeps the drawbacks and drops most of the benefits.

Most big coaching platforms bolted AI onto the outside of a human coaching model — scheduling, note-taking, session insights. The coaching itself is still delivered by a human, on a human’s calendar, at a human’s price.

What hybrid models keep

  • Priced against human coach hourly rates, however it's packaged
  • Bottlenecked by one coach's calendar and caseload
  • Quality varies coach to coach, with no consistent standard
  • Reserved for the same manager-and-above population as before
  • Availability limited to business hours and booked slots

What MBC does instead

  • Priced per employee per month, not per coaching hour
  • Available to every employee, at the same time, with no caseload limit
  • Every session measured against the same quality framework
  • Extends coaching to line managers and individual contributors, not just leadership
  • Available whenever the moment actually calls for it — 24/7, voice-first
NOT A CHATBOT

This only works because of what’s underneath it.

Closing the remaining gap between AI and human coaching isn’t a prompt-engineering problem. It’s an architecture problem — and it’s what we’ve spent most of our engineering effort on.

My Chemistry®

Personalises how each coach shows up to each person over time, so the relationship deepens the way a real coaching relationship does — rather than resetting every session.

02

My Conversation Bluepint®

We deconstructed a coaching conversation into 72 individually measure parameters. Every coaching conversation is scored against this matrix, so "good coaching" is a measured standard, not a hope.

03

My Learning Brain®

Our autonomous improvement loop that uses those quality scores to keep making the coaching sharper, without waiting on a manual retrain cycle.

See what coaching every employee actually looks like.

Bring this to your organiszation and we’ll walk your own headcount and seniority mix through the model above.
